"This piece is as much a tribute to New York City as it is to Jay-Z. Every once in a while an artist comes along that possesses the ability to embody a sound of an entire city (much the way the grunge era did with Seattle). Jay-Z is definitely one of these artists. Although rap or hip hop usually isn’t my genre of choice, I find myself drawn to his no nonsense, cadence style of music that seems to bring you along on his journey from a young kid from the city to music and business mogul.
