Nasbar 500 by Michael Godard
My buddy, Vince, used to race cars and has lots of racing memorabilia. I saw a TV show about NASCAR’s popularity and the fact that one in every four Americans is a fan. Along the pit wall is the name Olive Pit, another play on words, since olives have pits and this is the pit area. On the wall are the names of my three daughters, Buick, Maddy and Paige. On the car is the name Big Daddy, which is Dave’s nickname. The wrench represents a friend. Someone drank the martini from the winner’s cup and passed out. The race official is running up to the passed-out olive with his hand raised as if to say “no drinking!” ~M.G.
