The subject matter for this one was brought to me by a collector at one of my art shows. We were tossing around ideas for a commission based on a movie character when he mentioned Edward Scissorhands. My eyes lit up immediately. Although he ultimately settled on The Godfather, an Edward Scissorhands stayed in my periphery for many years.

My interest was peaked for a variety of reasons. First, I’ve always considered Johnny Depp a rock star, figuratively, long before he became one literally by joining the likes of Aerosmith, Marilyn Manson, and his own band with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry – Hollywood Vampires. The second reason I wanted to do this is piece is because Edward’s appearance, with his wild hair, makeup, clad in leather and wielding metal, is right in my wheelhouse. Painting rock stars has given me a unique set of skills when it comes to painting things of this nature. Edward may not have been a rock star, but he fits into my catalog as well as any before him.
