Although Dave Grohl has always been on my radar, a few events over the last year or two jumped him to the front of the “to do” list. It started with his decision to buck the current trend of over producing albums in newer high tech studios and recording their epic new album in his own garage using low tech traditional equipment. The second was his Grammy acceptance speech for that very album (wearing a Slayer T-shirt no less) where he reminded people that although it is harder to find, true guitar driven Rock n’ Roll is still around and still relevant. These events along with an exceptional cameo on the Rock-Doc “Lemmy”, have in my opinion, put Grohl into the position of the unofficial ambassador of traditional, loud, in your face, Rock n’ Roll.
