You’d be hard pressed to find a more beloved musician among guitar players than Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan. SRV is another subject I’ve received multiple requests for, and that number increased when I released my “Rogue” portfolio. Apparently, the only thing that rivals the love of SRV is the love for his 1963 Fender Strat–this guitar has become as legendary as the man himself.

I’ve had many concepts for an SRV piece over the years, but nothing really punched me in the mouth. I owe a debt of gratitude to a collector that approached me with the basic concept of leading with the guitar, much like my Van Halen piece. It was a brilliant idea and I ran from there. Although the final concept ended up being a little different than his original vision, he pointed me in the right direction.

I knew quite a bit of the Stevie Ray Vaughan catalog already, but this piece made me reconnect with his Texas blues sound and allowed me to discover some oddities and deep tracks that I wasn’t previously aware of. The re-discovery made this piece exceptionally fun and rewarding.
