This was another piece where my main focus was more on the composition than the subject realism. I felt a great deal of responsibility to the fans of this eccentric rock band to incorporate some of the meaningful images and symbols that adorned their legendary album covers and even more legendary live shows. As I researched this piece I found myself drawn towards and definitely attempted to capture the look and feeling of the late seventies, early eighties billiard halls and arcades (those who remember these establishments may recall the unique decor). As for the band itself – they are another big influence on my early years and would definitely have a few tracks on the soundtrack of my youth. It's hard to quantify or to express the influence that these originators of progressive and psychedelic rock have had on bands that followed...maybe Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) said it best while inducting them in to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame..."And again, when you really think about kind of band Pink Floyd has been, and when you think about that album (Dark Side of The Moon) being one of the most successful albums of all time, and you think of everything that surrounds it, it still surprises me to this day that we don't look for more Pink Floyds".
